5Do not install without reading this.  Mar 26, 2011 By Ronald
I agree with all the positives that have been written and I give it 5 stars but all should know that this rating is relative to price and I have no experience with high end stuff. I put mine in a sturdy little $100 Johnson travel guitar that I always liked the feel of but sounded not much better than an unamplified electric guitar. This little $14 unit kept me from buying the sweeter, louder, sounding $200 Martin Travel guitar (sweeter but less sturdy and rough and ready). In any case, I have a fine little beater guitar now that sounds great! And I bought a second one for my little $60 Kala Uke. (And of course I am now going to have to get a Pignose portable- so it is slippery sloop.) So here is the true purpose of my review. The way I installed this thing was to google "install endpin jack" This takes you to the following YouTube video: [...]This guy knows what he is doing and I followed his directions because the product packaging gives you no guidance at all. If you do no have the right size bit, borrow or buy one do not improvise too much. I did use a rat tail file to open the hole a bit. I would suggest that you not fit the thing in too tightly because you have to allow room for the wood to contract in dry weather! So to the person who put this gadget into a more expensive instrument, I would make darn sure that the hole is big enough and then watch it in dry weather to see that no cracks start to develop in the finish.

4best and easy install for acoustic instrument.  Jan 17, 2010 By Brightwood Music
Simple to install and true to the sound of the instrument. Take the time to locate the best sweet spot to locate the pickup on the instrument, and be sure to use a more permanent adhesive than the double sided tape provided.

5It works well.  Feb 10, 2010 By R. Cottrell
It is simple to install this contact mike -- no surprises. I used it to create and electrify a cigar-box guitar. The quality of sound that resulted was beyond my modest expectations. The sound is simple, clear, and resembles an acoustic guitar -- which is more than a cigar-box deserves.

When the sound (or the signal) is passed through an effects device on its way to the amp, a variety of wild and crazy electric effects (reverb, etc.) can be created.

4Easy to install - and it works with Rocksmith!  Dec 30, 2011 By Alfred Broderick
I bought this pickup to allow my kid to use his 1/2 size acoustic guitar with the video game Rocksmith by UbiSoft.

Installation is easy, but you must do it correctly. Watch the video by Ronald and follow all of his advice. The hardest part of this for me was building up the nerve to drill a hole in my son's beautiful guitar. Advice: measure twice, cut once. Place several layers of masking tape tape over the spot where you are drilling so that you do not mar the guitar finish. Use a Forstner bit of the correct size, not a regular drill bit. Again, the video by Ronald is a huge help! Buy a fresh roll of heavy duty double faced tape (I used 3M VHB). Take your time and you will have a result that looks professionally installed.

I used my kid's smaller hands to reach into the soundhole of the guitar to place the pickup in position #2.

Once installed in position #2, plug it into your XBOX using the RockSmith cable, tune the guitar and you are ready to play. We found that we got better results (i.e. higher scores) with the sound turned DOWN so that the guitar pickup does not register vibrations that we did not intend.

5Can't beat it for price  Dec 19, 2011 By Butcher
These little pickups are great. Like others have said, don't use the tape - it absorbs too much of the vibrations you are trying to amplify... just superglue it with the good gel-type glue so it doesn't run and gives you time get it in place (Loctite makes a good oneGLUE,LOCTITE ULTRA GEL,4G). I give it a little twist to even out the glue.

Also, like any transducer pickup, you need to put some kind of preamp in between it and your amp or mixing board. There are so many to choose from, even the inexpensive Behringer ADI-21 does a good job.Behringer ADI21 V-Tone Acoustic
