5Electrified at Last!  Aug 11, 2010 By Walter Danielak
I've had a Yamaha FG-140 since I was 9 years old. 40 years later it is still one of my favorite guitars. I always wanted to get an acoustic pickup for it but didn't want to alter the guitar in an intrusive/permanent way. The Fishman Neo-D Passive Soundhole Humbucker pickup was the perfect solution. I just received it today and in a minute it was in place, ready to play. I plugged it into a Roland Jazz Chorus (JC) 120 amplifier and the guitar sounded clear and natural without any feedback or hum. The amplification is dead even on all six strings. I then switched on the chorus effect with some reverb (on the amp)and wow! The only drawback is it doesn't have a volume control. The Fishman Rare Earth Acoustic Humbucker does but for $60 less, this particular model sits very well with me.Fishman Rare Earth Humbucking Soundhole Pickup

4Great, clear sound  Jul 20, 2011 By Michael J Edelman
This is a marvelous pickup. It's lightweight, easy to install, doesn't need a preamp, and has none of that quacky sound you typically get from piezo pickups. In fact, it sounds much more like a guitar being amplified through a good microphone than it does a pickup. I've got mine mounted semi-permanently on my 1960s Guild D-35, with the output going to a strap jack, and I'm thinking of installing another on my Taylor Big Baby.

5Great  Jul 02, 2011 By Philip Gardner
Easy to fit, although I had to slightly adjust the string height so that the high E didn't damp against the pickup, but after that all went perfectly. An absolutely beautiful tone and perfectly clean. I'm very happy!

5Very good sound  Jul 11, 2010 By Charles Martel
I use this with my Yamaha acoustic guitar and Fender amp...very good sound quality, and no distortion.

5Great sound, great support  Apr 21, 2009 By J. Larson
I bought this sort of last minute because I was sick of using a microphone on my guitar for live performances. I read a lot of rave reviews about the single coil Neo D, but wanted to try the humbucker for a less noisy sound.

I play through a Musicman 212-65 with my electric. I don't yet have any kind of dedicated acoustic amp, so I also played the acoustic through the Musicman. For an electric guitar amp, the pickup sounded quite nice. Hardly any noise at all. Less brilliance than I hoped for, but I entirely blame the amp for that.

All in all, this pickup is totally worth it. I imagine with a nice acoustic amp it will sound nearly as good as the fanciest pickup systems.

Super great company too!
