Effective; simple; has an added bonus, too... Feb 04, 2009
By autopoiesis First, a caveat: check the diameter of your soundhole before you buy, as the appropriate dimensions are not listed on Amazon.
Classical version (reviewed here) Link: Kyser Classical Guitar Humidifier Manufacturer's code: KLHC For soundholes 3 3/8 - 3 3/4 inch (~8.6cm - 9.5cm)
Acoustic version Link: Kyser Acoustic Guitar Humidifier Manufacturer's code: (KLHA) For soundholes 3 3/4 - 4 1/8 inch (~9.5cm - 10.5cm).
In use, the KLHC is simple to fit (although in common with posters elsewhere, I removed the stiff plastic ring that seems to serve little purpose) and the soft unit fits snugly into the soundhole and around the end of the fretboard.
My (8 month old) guitar was suffering from the dry air of its first winter. With the humidifier, it detunes much less between sessions, the tone has improved - I'm very glad I got it.
5/5 stars for the product - no hesitation. The two units I purchased were shipped standard USPS by Stinnets and arrived promptly in perfect condition (~8 days IIRC) - so all good on the seller front, too.
Finally, there's just enough clearance between the humidifier and the strings to play with it in place, where it's quite an effective mute (!). Not what I'd planned, but an unexpected bonus for late night twanging...

A good idea Feb 23, 2008
By Aged Cheddar ... for your solid top acoustic in a dry winter climate. Has small sponge material well protected by soft rubber surround with vent holes. Should provide just enough humidity to prevent splits, but not enough to cause problems. Wish I had a humidity controlled room for my classical acoustic, but this is will have to do.

simple, protective device Jan 21, 2010

Good guitar humidifier has thus far helped my ten delicate, gorgeous tonewood guitars weather two winters without a crack! Easier to use, less cumbersome than a dripping dampit. Simple to insert.

Kyser Classical Guitar Humidifier Feb 07, 2012
By Greg Jah I use this humidifier with my 1988 Contreras classical guitar. In the past I used a Planet Waves humidifier, but never really liked how you had to hang the Planet Waves from the strings and leave it suspended inside the guitar's body. The setup always felt a bit precarious, especially if you didn't store the guitar case flat on the ground. Enter the Kyser. It fits my guitar's soundhole snugly and it stays in place. As a result, I can leave the humidifier in when transporting the guitar from place to place. Given one reviewer's experience with water damage to his/ her guitar's finish, I do take the precaution of allowing the humidifier to sit out for a day after soaking & squeezing it just to make sure than any excess water vapor outside or around the humidifier's gasket has evaporated. I soak the thing about once every five or six days. Overall I am really happy with this humidifier and will be purchasing another one for my acoustic/ electric.
