Great Strings Oct 01, 2006
By T. Lewis I stumbled onto these by accident at a small music store that does well to have picks. I bought them and put them on my National Style O resonator which I play with bare fingers. The sound and the ease of playing was drastic. The sound is clear and the volume fantastic. My fingers slide off of the slightly slippery coating with ease and although it may be wishfull thinking, I think I play faster with fewer mistakes. I would recommend these to anyone who plays and accoustic. For myself, I won't be buying anything else for awhile. A word of caution though, allow some extra length when winding these up on the machine head, as they are coated and slippery and need and extra wrap or two on the pegs to keep them from slipping.

Best Acoustic Strings ever! Jan 28, 2005
By Robert M. Kirwan
"World Traveller"
-These are by far the best strings I have ever used on my Fender DG-19 Acoustic. They offer a unique look and feel plus plenty of play on the fret board and the sweetest sound. No other strings will do it for me or my baby.
-A buddy of mine lent me an old Martin a while back that sounded like crap. I restrung it with these babies breathing new life into its beat down sad soul. He is also a convert.

Good strings! Easy on the hands! Feb 16, 2005
By Elizabeth Darcy Silk & Steel have a reputation of being "easy to play". My friend recommended these strings to me, and I went out and bought a set.
They are very easy to play, and the sound of the strings complements my cedar and rosewood guitar really well! They stay in tune very regularly and are awesome for those who are wanting to have a more fingerstyle approach.
They have a more melodic, less twangy, but not "dull" sound. I'll be playing these ones for quite a while.

great sounding strings Aug 02, 2009
By Tim Zin I bought these to restring my 000 size guitar, which did have martin phosphor bronze custom light strings on it. Before it sounded a bit bright, especially when strummed, but with silk and steel 11 - 47 s on it, it has mellowed out a bit, but still has 90% of the volume, and you can hear the bass notes much better. They are easier on the hands, the top strings are still hard on the fingers, but barre chords are effortless.

Saved my Washburn Rover Nov 12, 2010
By Photoman12001 I recently bought a brand new Washburn Rover for use on military deployments, hikes, traveling and any other situations when I don't want to carry my full-size guitar. I really didn't like it at first. I wasn't expecting full-size performance but it didn't sound good whether you compared it to another guitar or just on its own merits. The original strings also made it hard to play. They just didn't feel right. And it would go out of tune after just strumming a few chords. I didn't enjoy playing it and was worried I had wasted my money.
Luckily I did my research before buying the Rover. Many other people complained about its sound and a few people recommended putting these Silk and Steel strings on the guitar. I bought two sets of them right after buying the Rover so they arrived a few days after the guitar. I immediately restrung it and the difference was amazing. The twangy sound was replaced by mellow tones. The volume of each string was more even too. The high strings with the original set were too pronounced. It's much easier to play and stays in tune very well. I can't hardly put the Rover down now.
I'm a novice guitar player at best but these strings get my recommendation for saving my Rover. I can't say how well they do on a full-size guitar but if you have a Rover you owe it to yourself and the guitar to give these strings a shot. You probably won't want to jam away in front of thousands of people with it but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the improvement.
