Description

Recording King's classic tricone resonator has three 6” Continental cones that transfer incredibly loud tones through the body of the guitar. The cones are positioned with two on the bass side and one on the treble side, giving an EQ balance with a sweeter, warmer sound. This tricone is made from nickel-plated bell brass and features a screen coverplate and T-shaped bridge with an ebony and maple saddle. The bridge is connected to the center of each cone so that when the strings are hit, the vibrations run through the saddle and then into the bridge. This tricone has a distinct tone and long sustain characterized by brilliant overtones and a natural ambiance only found in resonator instruments.

4Medium loud note acoustic tricone  Jan 29, 2012 By Boyce M. Avirett
Just bought this at Christmas 2012. I have owned two other Dobro style resonators before. This one barks pretty good, acoustically, but not quite as loud as i expected. The color is different. Like a dark tea stain. Not sure if it's chrome underneath all this color.
I have been finger picking for several years and also play the banjo. Still, it's a stretch with a bottle neck slide.
The build Recording King Metal Tricone Resonator Guitar, Champagne Matteon this guitar seems adequate,I'd gig with it, but only sitting down-it's 13 pounds of heavy!

The shipping from Amazon is really GREAT!
Amazon Prime is well worth the money!!!!

5Even Better Than Expected!!!!  Apr 24, 2012 By Michael D. Bailey
I have been playing guitar for many years, and also have been into country blues and folk music for over 30 years. I have several good guitars, but have always wanted a nice resonator steel body. Well, $2,000 or more is a whole lot of money for a National, so, I have been open minded about the new imports in this category. When I saw this, saw the reviews, and did some research on these, I knew this was the guitar for me. I also really like the Champagne Matt (iced tea color), really just looks like an old brass Tricone. I took delivery today, got it home from work and got it into open D tuning and played it for a couple of hours with a brass slide and nice Dunlop brass finger and thumb picks. Man!! It will growl out the slide riffs, but also really smooth folky sounds. Mine is balanced, loud, and responsive. The neck is nice and the fingerboard is wide, a pleasure to play! It has a really good range, not at all tinny, and good sustain. No, it is not a National, but I would proudly use it on stage or in the studio, and I am not broke after buying this, out around $700 after adding a nice case! Another real bonus is the 12th fret neck junction and scale length used here. Before now it has been hard to find 12th fret junction steel bodies from Asia, and this was a requirement for me. I feel that the steel body resonator guitar should have the 12th fret junction instead of the 14. I am so glad Recording King put these out, and I really recommend this if you need a really good resonator guitar at a very good price. Seasoned guitarists out there, please take note, Recording King is designed here and built in China, but built right with excellent components. This guitar came from the factory set up just right!

5Top notch!  Mar 31, 2012 By Judd
The Recording King Metal Tricone Resonator Guitar, Champagne Matte finish, is a great instrument at a very reasonable price. It arrived promptly and in perfect condition. It easily merits a 5-star rating.

I've played guitar for 27 years and concentrated on slide guitar for the past 8 of those years. I've learned to make slide notes project fairly well from many different kinds of guitars, and I've constantly worked on seamlessly mixing slide notes with fretted notes. With the Recording King Metal Tricone Resonator Guitar, those two tasks have become a lot less work and a lot more fun! Both slide notes and fretted notes "sing" loudly, clearly, and beautifully! And the two mesh together perfectly! I can't believe this guitar came out of the factory with such an ideal setup. The "action" is perfect, whether I'm playing delta blues, jazz, bluegrass, rock, or whatever else.

And slides in every style, size, and weight all sound great on this guitar. No matter which slide I choose, it's a winner!

Kudos to Recording King and to Amazon!
